ORIGINS

ORIGINS is another collection of bits and pieces, rough demos and songs that don't fit anywhere else.

In what has become a Glaciers tradition, this is being made available whilst an album proper - 'NEW MYTHOLOGIES' - is being mixed and mastered ready for release.

Be prepared for a mongrel selection of recordings ranging from stuff done straight into garageband to more considered tracks that just never got properly finished.
I feel like all of the songs here should be shared, and I hope there are some diamonds within the mud...

Collage

I've been getting back into collage. Experimenting with different forms and incorporating relief prints/textures. A problem I have when collaging is that I don't stick anything down before the image is built up, allowing me to arrange things until they are looking right. To stick things down I then have to re-build the collage (from a photo reference). The end result always feels less dynamic and fresh, and it takes too long. This is a fragment of a collage in which I am attempting to use masking tape to stick things down and incorporating it into the composition, keeping the freshness, looseness and accidental qualities. I want to develop this further.

Unused character design for a children's book. Drawn in pencil and coloured with vector shapes. Something i'd like to continue, keeps the looseness of the drawing as well as giving is some solidity. Tove Jansson, Abner Graboff etc-inspired in the use of bold shapes and simple details.
